State Tournament Results Prediction

1. Curtis
2. Bellevue
3. Mercer Island
4. Puyallup
5. Roosevelt
6. Kentridge
7. Gig Harbor
8. Auburn Mountainview

Another season is almost over and the regionals provided some interesting results.  Newport one of the top teams in the state failed to make the final with an upset by Gig Harbor.  Gig Harbor finished second in the West, but was the only team for the west to make it with an upset over Newport.

Roosevelt put together a good showing missing two of their top athletes in the Gordon brothers.  Roosevelt had won the Kingco conference going undefeated in league play, and they made adjustments and put together the wins to get the 3rd seed from Region 1.

Region 2 went as expected based on inter-league play results.  Curtis and Puyallup finishing 1-2 and then the two top teams from the East league, Kentridge and Auburn Mountainview - finishing 3-4.

There will be some great games this week, ultimately culminating in a championship game between defending champion Bellevue and undefeated Curtis.  It should be a great game, although based on Curtis’ performance in the previous two match ups – the last coming at Curtis, we predict Curtis has too much for Bellevue to overcome.  A perfect season is in order.

Two other interesting games should be what we predict a Mercer Island and Puyallup game for the 3rd.  Which we think MI will win. Puyallup falls a little short, but finishes a great 2015 campaign.

The other game is the semis between MI and Curtis.

I am sure MI has plans for upsetting Curtis in the semis.  That would be one of the biggest upsets in Washington water polo history – but, hey, this is high school sports.  Anything can happen.  Mercer Island has steadily improved throughout the season.  They have a good goalie.  Who knows.  We predict Curtis to blow open a close first half and win by 8 goals.

Curtis, Bellevue and Mercer Island appear to be at least a rung above the rest.

Good luck to all at the Washington State Water Polo Championships!
